We believe that PE is unique in its ability to develop the ‘whole’ person. The aim of the PE Department at Edmonton County Primary School is to empower students with the knowledge, values, skills and personal qualities to pursue a lifelong love of physical activity and sport. We also firmly believe that competitive sport and ‘opportunities for ALL’ can co-exist in a busy school environment.
All of our pupils in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 receive a minimum of one hour of PE a week, taught by our Specialist PE Teachers. Within our Early Years and Foundation Stage provision we offer our pupils a varied, engaging and physically active environment that supports the development of the gross motor skills that they will need throughout their lives.
A key part of our extra-curricular provision includes our “Active Playtimes,” where we encourage all of our pupils to enjoy an active lifestyle through participation in playground activities, including invasion ball games, skipping and active free play. After school activities include boys & girls football training, netball, dance & cheerleading.
Edmonton County Primary offers a vast array of sporting opportunities for all of our students, alongside our 1 hour of high quality PE provision for every child, Our Key Stage 2 children are given the opportunity to represent the school in football, netball and athletics each year. We also enter many different sporting events to give the children the opportunity to experience different sports for example, hockey, cricket, sports hall athletics and a number of SEN events.
We have National Sports Week where we give children the opportunity to experience activities they may not have played before. These have included tennis & bowls.
We welcome coaches from different sports to expand children knowledge. We have had Arsenal coaches in to focus on girl’s football and Winchmore Hill Cricket club to work with Year 5
